About this product

Introducing the latest innovation in plant research technology, the CID BioScience Plant Canopy Imager CI-110. Designed with precision and efficiency in mind, this state-of-the-art device is engineered to revolutionise the way we study and understand plant canopies. Equipped with advanced wide-angle imaging capabilities, the CI-110 effortlessly captures comprehensive views of plant canopies, providing invaluable data for researchers and agriculturists alike.

At the core of the CI-110's technology is its unparalleled ability to estimate the Leaf Area Index (LAI), a critical parameter in understanding plant health and productivity. This feature allows for accurate assessments of canopy coverage, offering insights into the plant's growth environment and potential yield. Additionally, the CI-110 measures Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) levels, enabling users to evaluate the amount of light available for photosynthesis, further enhancing the understanding of plant growth conditions.

Whether you're conducting detailed research in a laboratory setting or monitoring crop health in vast agricultural fields, the CID BioScience Plant Canopy Imager CI-110 is your ideal partner. Its user-friendly design, combined with robust data collection and analysis capabilities, makes it an indispensable tool for anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of plant canopies. Embrace the future of plant canopy analysis with the CI-110 and unlock new possibilities in plant science and agriculture.

More Information

Images live-update on the built-in capacitative monitor, providing instant data for verification and analysis with integrated software in the field under any daylight conditions. User-selected zenith and azimuthal divisions allow investigation of any canopy sectors desired, and the instrument's lightweight design makes it convenient for canopy imaging in any location! Now with updated GPS accuracy with access to four different satellite constellations, and the ability to interchange lens filters over the camera for more specific measurements.

Harvest Agri Ltd is the UK distributor for CID BioScience of USA and we will be happy to provide more details, answer queries and provide service. However, the new CID BioScience website is EXCELLENT and has more information than is possible for us to show. Have a look and we will provide a firm delivered quote in Pounds (or Euro) with all import hassles (VAT, duty (if any), freight and clearing charges) taken care of. All products have a minimum one year full warranty and satisfaction is guaranteed.

FAQs

What improvements were made with the latest product redesign?
Providing users with accurate measurements in an easy-to-use form factor are our primary goals. To achieve this objective, the Plant Canopy Imager went through a complete overhaul in 2018. Major improvements included the addition of an on-board touchscreen for easy measurement visualization and the combination of all device parts into one, easily hand-held device.

Is the CI-110 waterproof?
The CI-110 is not designed to be waterproof and should not be used underwater. The CI-110 is designed to be water-resistant. Use in light rain is fine, however, there are electronics inside of the CI-110 that can be damaged from water entering the instrument, so it is not recommended to use the CI-110 during heavy rainfall. Furthermore, it should be noted that the tablet provided with the CI-110 is not waterproof and a waterproof case would need to be purchased for use in wet conditions.

What crops and broader foliage can I use the CI-110 to study?
The CI-110 has been used to effectively measure the leaf area index of forests, pastureland, grasslands, savanna, jungle and virtually any agricultural crop.

What different types of researchers use the CI-110?
Crop, forestry, environmental, plant, climate, hydrology, soil, and weed researchers all benefit enormously from the metrics that the Plant Canopy Imager provide.

Getting Started with the CID BioScience Plant Canopy Imager CI-110

1. Unboxing and Setup
Carefully unbox the CI-110 Plant Canopy Imager and its components. Charge the device using the provided charger until the battery indicator shows full charge.
Attach any provided straps or handles for easy handling in the field.

2. Initial Configuration
Power on the device by pressing the power button.
Follow on-screen instructions to set up the device, including date, time, and user preferences.
Install any software or apps provided by CID BioScience on your computer or mobile device for data analysis.

3. Taking Canopy Images
Position the CI-110 under the plant canopy where you wish to perform the analysis. Ensure the device is stable and level.
Select the option to capture a wide-angle canopy image from the device menu.
Press the capture button to take the image. Ensure minimal movement to avoid blurring.

4. Estimating Leaf Area Index (LAI)
After capturing the canopy image, select the option to estimate LAI from the device menu.
The device will process the image and provide an estimation of the Leaf Area Index. This process may take a few moments.
Review the LAI value displayed on the screen. This value represents the area of leaves per unit area of ground and is crucial for understanding canopy density.

5. Measuring Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR)
Locate the PAR sensor on the device, usually found near the lens or on a separate attachment.
Position the sensor in the area where you want to measure PAR levels.
Select the PAR measurement option from the menu and initiate the measurement.
The device will display the PAR levels, indicating the amount of usable light for photosynthesis.

6. Data Analysis and Export
Connect the CI-110 to your computer or mobile device using a USB cable or Bluetooth, depending on the model.
Transfer the data collected to the CID BioScience software for further analysis.
Use the software tools to analyze canopy images, LAI estimations, and PAR measurements. You can generate reports, graphs, and insights based on the data.

7. Maintenance and Care

After use, clean the device gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
Store the CI-110 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
Regularly check for software updates from CID BioScience to ensure your device operates with the latest features and improvements.

Tips for Optimal Use

For best results, take measurements under consistent lighting conditions, preferably on cloudy days or at times when sunlight is diffused.
Regular calibration of the device may be required to maintain accuracy. Refer to the user manual for calibration procedures.
Practice taking several measurements in different areas to get a comprehensive understanding of the canopy's condition.
